The Marin Independent Journal mentioned Codeism and the Church of Faith and Reason in its September 2026 coverage (print and e-edition, page A3, continuing inside).
Reporter Richard Halstead noted that founding Elder Clay Hess posts lectures online on Codeism and quoted our site: Hess “is an advocate of a Codeism-based world view and is founding Elder of the Church of Faith and Reason.” The paper also carried the church’s description of Codeism as “an understanding of how God, nature, mathematics, and human history themselves present as a unified theory of everything.”
The paper quoted Hess: “I started a church for my family,” Hess wrote in an email. “I was raised Mormon, as my family has been for generations. When I began questioning that faith in my late twenties, it divided my family, as it does for many Mormon families, and some of those wounds are still open. This church is where we work on healing them. My beliefs don’t write my votes. The church does no politics.”
We’re grateful for the accurate naming of our community. The church remains a place of faith and reason — healing, learning, and worship — and stays out of politics.
